Can I pick up my rug from your studio to avoid delivery fees?

Yes! You’re welcome to collect your rug from our studio, or we can arrange delivery to you wherever you are.

Can I customise one of your existing designs?

We can customise any of our designs to suit your project, whether that means changing the colours, adjusting the scale or making other small design tweaks.

Small changes can make a big difference, helping the rug feel considered within your space and work alongside your existing colours, furniture and finishes. Get in touch to talk through what you have in mind, and we’ll guide you through the options.

Not quite sure what needs changing? That’s completely fine too. We can explore the possibilities with you and create a rug that feels right for your space.

Can I design my own rug?

Have an idea for a rug? We’ll work with you to turn it into something real.

Our bespoke rug service takes you through the whole process, from developing the initial concept to sampling and production. We’ll help you make decisions around colour, materials, texture, shape and construction to create a rug made specifically for your space.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start. See how it works.

Can I see a sample before ordering the rug?

Yes! Samples are made to scale to show a small section of the overall rug design, so you can get a better sense of the colours, materials, texture and construction before committing to the full rug.

A sample deposit is required before we send your sample. We’ll always provide the largest sample size available for your chosen rug. The deposit is refunded once the sample is returned to us in good condition. Any shipping costs paid for a sample will be credited towards your rug order if you decide to proceed.

Sample costs

  • Flatweave: $150 + shipping
  • Hand tufted: $200 + shipping
  • Hand knotted: $290 + shipping
  • Shipping costs are based on your location and confirmed when your sample is ordered.
  • We’ll provide a return label so you can easily send the sample back to us.

Samples must be returned within 30 days of receiving them, unless otherwise agreed. If a sample is kept beyond this period, the sample deposit may not be refunded.

Payment terms

For custom and commissioned rugs, a 50% deposit is required before production can begin, unless otherwise agreed. The remaining balance must be paid in full before the rug is dispatched.

All online orders are paid in full before production begins.

Delivery transit time

Custom and made-to-order rugs:

  • 8 to 12 weeks for flatweave and hand tufted rugs
  • 12 to 16 weeks for hand knotted rugs
  • Over 16 weeks for more intricate hand knotted rugs with higher knot counts
  • Plus approximately 2 weeks for shipping

Rugs in stock at our studio:

Returns and refunds

Custom and made-to-order rugs are made specifically for each project. Once a deposit has been paid and production has started, these rugs cannot be cancelled, returned or refunded unless there is a confirmed fault with the rug.

For ready-made rugs in stock, returns can be requested within 14 days of receiving your order. The rug must be unused and returned in its original condition and packaging.

If a rug has been altered in any way, such as being reshaped, cut to size, inset or modified to accommodate floor boxes, it will be considered a custom order and subject to our custom rug terms. Altered rugs cannot be returned or refunded.

Shipping a rug to our studio

When returning a rug, please make sure it is securely packaged to prevent damage in transit. Rugs that are returned used, dirty or damaged may not be eligible for a refund.

Return postage costs are the responsibility of the customer, unless the return is due to a confirmed fault with the rug.

Please include your name and order number with your return so we can identify your order and process it promptly.

International returns

For international returns, please contact us before sending the rug back so we can provide the right return instructions. Customs duties, taxes and other import charges are the responsibility of the customer and cannot be refunded by Molly Rugburn. Any refund of these charges must be requested directly through the relevant customs authority.

Request an exchange

To exchange a ready-made rug, get in touch at hello@mollyrugburn.com.au with your order number and we’ll help with the next steps.

Exchanges follow the same process as returns. Once we receive your rug and confirm that it is in its original condition, we’ll be in touch to arrange your exchange.

Any credit issued for an exchange is valid for 12 months from the date we receive your return.

Faulty and damaged rugs

If your rug arrives damaged or you believe there is a manufacturing fault, please contact us within 7 days of receiving it. Include a description of the issue and photographs so we can assess the rug and work out the best way to resolve it. Where a fault is confirmed, we’ll arrange an appropriate solution, which may include a repair or replacement.

Please do not cut, alter or install a rug if you believe it has arrived damaged or has a manufacturing fault. Once a rug has been altered, we cannot accept it as a return or assess the original issue.
